CYBERGALAXIA

BeQCI

Objective of the project

CyberGalaxia is an ambitious project funded by the ERDF Wallonia program 2021-2027, aiming to strengthen cybersecurity in the Walloon region. This portfolio is coordinated by CETIC and involves several academic and industrial partners, including MULTITEL, SIRRIS, UCLouvain, and ULiège.

The CyberGalaxia project is part of a global cybersecurity strategy, responding to the growing needs for protecting infrastructures, systems and data against digital threats. Cybersecurity has become a crucial issue with the increase in system connectivity and the digital transformation of the economy.

CyberGalaxia aims to:

– Improve the resilience of infrastructures against cyber attacks.
– Develop operational capabilities to prevent and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
– Promote a global and open cyberspace, in alignment with European directives such as NIS/NIS2, CyberAct, and GDPR.

Contribution of Multitel

MULTITEL proposes and participates in several projects within this portfolio because, besides cybersecurity, many of its other skills will be useful to the projects, among others data transmission, artificial intelligence, applied photonics.

Very specifically within the framework of the Cyber-Galaxia portfolio, MULTITEL will bring a key skill to this project as part of the work dealing with quantum encryption technologies. Indeed, this technology makes use among other things of the generation of quantum objects, which means physical objects that behave according to the laws of quantum physics. In practice, these objects are light pulses (photons) that are the subject of the department’s work.

Different demonstrators related to the theme “Trusted & Secure Space Infrastructures” will be carried out, for example the generation of single photons and their use for quantum cybersecurity of transmissions.
